Opened on September 22, 1997, the Little Burgundy Sports Centre is an $8.6M complex, financing resulting from the negotiations and efforts of the neighborhood residents in response to a shortage of recreational and sports facilities within that community. The financing was a tripartite venture between the federal and provincial governments at a cost of $4M and the City of Montreal at $4.6M. At its opening, former Mayor Pierre Bourque officially had transferred the administration of the centre to the Little Burgundy Sports Centre Corporation represented by the former President Léonie Chasles.
Still today, the organization is managed independently by the Little Burgundy Sports Centre Corporation represented by a Board of Directors in collaboration with the City of Montreal.
The Little Burgundy Sports centre is a non-profit organization of the City of Montreal, responsible for the administration and management of programs and activities.
